A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

?80 GS1100L Front Brake Reservoir - wrong part issue

I just recently purchased a 1980 GS1100L. PO had informed me of a leaking front brake fluid reservoir (I think it was dropped on that side). Said he had ?superglued? it for a temp fix, but is is leaking slightly.

He and I both have ordered new replacements, according to the correct diagram on the parts schematics. UNfortunately the holes for the Phillips screws don?t line up. My original has holes that are 180 degrees apart towards th perimeter on the inside, where as the replacement that I?ve received has the screw holes side by side, just off center.

Any suggestions as to how to obtain the right one (I checked two different sites...same part number, same parts diagram for a 1980 GS1100L ). Thanks!

I have an 80-L and recently had mine apart and don?t remember for sure but seems like I only had one screw holding mine in place but I?ll check this evening

Thanks. I’ve sent the vendor pics of the differences. They are going to try and sort it out (hopefully!)

Was the PO the only owner the bike has ever had? :-k

Probably not, and there is no telling what someone might have put on there some time in the last 38 years.

It might not even be a Suzuki item. :-\\\

Checked mine this morning and I have the 2 holes side by side and I just assumed that those holes were for letting the brake fluid pass in/out to the master cylinder.....my holes don't line up either and I just have one screw in the center....I've owned my L since new and don't recall ever pulling the res apart.
