If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

'81 550L - rear caliper piston set - does it come with a pair of pistons?

Yeah, when I went to ride the bike for the first time since the rehabilitation, the rear caliper locked up... No, I hadn't serviced the caliper, hose, or master... I was planning on it, but thought I'd go for a spin and see how it fared... Both front and rear are getting it before the next ride.

Any how, I'm looking at Partshark's Piston Set. The parts fiche show's only 1 as required. So I'm wanting to know what all is in the Piston Set. A search of the forms leads me to think that at least one piston with the seal and dust boot are included, but what's throwing me off, is the #REQ thing in the parts list:

REF# PART #REQ RETAIL YOUR PRICE
1 PISTON SET
69100-34851 (replaces 69100-34810) 1 $36.44 $29.75
Regards,
Jake

I just looked at a couple other suppliers, they all have pretty much the same picture.
Look at the picture carefully, you will see that #1 has lines that stretch out to include EVERYTHING that fits into the caliper body. That would include two pistons, two seals, two boots. Since the pads cost more than the price of the piston kit, I would guess that they are not included.

Steve, that's pretty interesting. Below I've priced out just the rubber bits:

2- SUZUKI SEAL,PISTON for 1981 SUZUKI GS550L 1981-1982 69107-05CF0 $3.78 $7.56
2- SUZUKI ..BOOT, PISTON for 1981 SUZUKI GS550L 1981-1982 69108-45000 $3.55 $7.10
1- SUZUKI ..SEAL for 1981 SUZUKI GS550L 1981-1982 69107-34200 $5.73 $5.73
Total: $20.39

It's $9 less than the Piston Set at $29.75 - so a set of pistons for $9 seems reasonable? It does to me - I would have expected them to be more for some reason.

All the piston sets I have gotten before have included both pistons, both boots, and both piston seals. #5 did not come with the sets and I ordered it seperately. A bit salty at $ 6 but it is the only remaining rubber piece in the assembly and does tie the two assemblies together so I would recommend replacing it. Steve is correct, the pads and backer plate are not included n the piston kit price, at least not in the sets for 850,1000, & 1100 that I have previously purchased.

Z1enterprises.com to the rescue

Z1enterprises.com to the rescue

...Well, the fellas at Z1enterprises are good.

I first called my local Suzuki dealer they said, sorry, you're outta luck... Suzuki discontinued the rear caliper piston set...

So I called Z1 to get one of those K&L rebuild kits and I mentioned my conversation with the local dealer. Chris from Z1 said, "let me make a call".

He found that there was one left in a warehouse which (hopefully) is going to be mine! :)
