I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

anybody have a picture of how the front brake light switch goes together on a 1981 gs550t i took mine out to do some repairs and it fell apart now i am not sure how it goes back together i did see one on line and looks like i did find all the parts it just shows the parts not how it goes together

Now that you know it comes apart , you can take the clutch switch apart a little more carefully to see how it is supposed to go.
The switches are basically interchangeable. 8-[

First of all, it's very hard to assemble the brake light switch with the master cylinder on the bike. I suggest you take the master off and flip it over before trying to assemble it back together.

There is a slot/notch in the the brake lever that the sliding contact fits into.

The order of parts that fit into the slot are - spring - plastic holder - U shaped electrical contact - circuit board with wire attached - plastic cover w/screws.

The circuit board and plastic cover can slide back and forth to adjust the sensitivity of the switch. Install the parts but keep the screws loose so you can adjust the switch. Snug down the screws when you get the switch where you want it.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

I use dielectric grease to install without removing the M/C. Grease the plastic thingy so it stays in the notch and install the cover. If the spring won't stay inside because the contact won't snap in anymore bend it a bit so it will.
Order of installation/ Plastic fits into notch of brake lever. The spring goes inside the plastic part and the contact snaps over the spring. The contact moves back and forth on the little circuit board that the screws hold everything together.
If you can't it together they are dirt cheap on Fleabay.
