    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have been searching for a rebuild kit for the front master cylinder for a while now. The bike has a manufacturing date of 1981 so that is what I search for on Bike Bandit. The service manual that my father bought when the bike was new and Bike Bandit both show a round front master cylinder. The problem is that I have a rectangular master cylinder. BB shows the 82 model in the diagrams to have the rectangular mc. Does this mean my bike is an 82 model or a mistake on BB. Also I need a good lead on some new brake lines.

I have an 83 with a rectangle m.c. if that helps. My manual shows no round one at all. (clymers 81-83 650) You can check the home page here for model identification and see what you you get there.Try bb for an 83 and see what ya get .
 
If your 81 build month is Sept or later, it may have mid-year changes. Mine did.
 
The change came in the form of a window glass instead of a see through body. The L models have a different cylinder, it is canted 45 degrees and is for a single disk only.
 
I'm pretty sure alot of us have different types, just because suzuki wasn't that concerned with using the "proper model year" master, as long as they used up all of their inventory.

That is the one. Hope to have it road ready in a couple of weeks depending on when I can get the parts.

I know that brake hoses have a "life" expectancy and that that life depends on usage and storage conditions. This bike has always been stored inside and the brake lines look good externally. Since the bike is 25 years old, should I replace them ASAP?

check for swelling by the ends where they meet the metal and for cracks or sponginess in your brakes.I am still running mine because I cant afford new ones yet.I had a dealer look at them and they said they have probably been changed before due to the shape that they are in.Find somebody that know more about it then me though.Without seeing them it's hard to say.
