I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

‘82 650L Fuel filter clogged during ride; fixed+ rode home.

Hello peers; hope everyone’s well! Was out riding a short trip up the road today (55mph rural roads) when the throttle response was randomly reduced greatly. I pulled over and went to idle-bike idled at 4k, so I shut down. I discovered my fuel filter was completely blocked; (I have it routed between the tank and a 2nd iso-valve before it goes to the carb tubes) that line going to the carbs was dry and the one going into the filter was still fueling. I cleared out the debris from the fuel filter, hopped on annd started right back up and returned home safely, and I will now proceed to do a good thorough clean out of the tank. Just thought I’d share with yall one of my very first experiences on a motorcycle on a major state highway today. It definitely taught me a lot more about the bike and riding, and I can’t thank you guys enough for all the help I’ve received thru these forums/ you kind peoples.
Much love/respect to all yall!!! I’m lookin up to yous

The petcock has a screen, and each float valve has another. You don't need any extra fuel filters, if your bike is properly maintained.

Sounds like you need to clean the rust and general grunge out of your gas tank. There are countless threads here on how to do that. Bottom line: remove petcock, fuel sending unit, gas cap, and fashion plugs to seal the tank up. Next, use a cleaner to dissolve the gasoline varnish. This is different from a cleaner for the rust. After all the varnish is gone, use some sort of derusting agent. Evaporust is popular, if the rust isn't too bad. If there is deep rust, then phosphoric acid is best. Again, tons of info in the archives about this. In the end, you should have a clean tank, and use NO fuel filter.

good luck

Sweeeet, thanks for the info dude!! I definitely appreciate it and am eager to work on these things . Side note, this bike is incredibly fun on the roads
