If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

99% of the time, with a setup like yours (pods and pipe), stock pilots are fine.

My money still says that clogged passages are what is limiting your fuel flow.

+1. I have one size over pilots on my GPz (pods, pipe, overbore, lots of other hop up stuff) and they are too large. The next time the carbs come off I am going back to stock.
If you think about it, at idle most of the aftermarket stuff is not really having an effect. Why should it need larger jets at idle? IDK, I was following Internet advice, and it was incorrect.

I keep hearing everyone repeating what someone said ages ago about going up one pilot jet size and
have been wondering who started that rumor and why so many seem to believe it and recommend it.
I have never had to increase the pilot jet size in any of my creations. Yet.

I guess it is just like the one that I kept hearing about how the 4-valve exhaust won't work on the 2-valve heads.
Most models won't but not "all".
Yet my '81 GS1000G has '83 GS1100E exhaust on it. Go figure.

Just sayin'

i got 4 turns out on the a/f screw and still have no color on the plugs after riding but the 45s will put black on the plugs lol????

Are both sets of pilot jets the same type? :-k

Some pilot jets have bleeder holes on the sides, some don't.

If your originals had holes and the new ones don't, there will be further adjustments to make, but I don't know where or how.

Same thing if your originals did not have holes and the new ones do.

It's still sounding like a fuel issue, just need to keep plugging away, eliminating one thing after another, until the problem finally smacks you in the face.

Steve, you and I have discussed plug chops for the mixture screws. Care to share that with Isaac, since it seems to apply here?

O.K.
That is not what we discussed, but whatever. Sorry, Isaac.

Are you sure your petcock is working correctly? I was having this same issue but i have a clear inline filter and noticed that my petcock wasn't allowing enough fuel into my carbs at highway speeds... So after my brushes on my stater went it sat for a week.. and couldnt get it to run correctly after the reinstall of my stater( would bog down and cut out hang at anything over 4-5k) after havng some serious fun for 2 days i was looking at my fuel filter and noticed it was drying up... under load... sure enough... It was my petcock . I even emptied my tank via the petcock and it seemed fine! It would explain a couple of things... First why the head went in the first place... High heat caused by a lean mixture... Was very unnoticeable until i looked at my fuel filter. even though still seemed to be working and why changing around the jets isnt helping... I pulled of the screen off on mine and cut the metal stopper on the diagram to allow fuel to pass along with a on/off and runs like a champ until i buy a new one. ( 2 gs 's both with those well hated petcock's) Worth a shot and a clear inline will only set you back 10 bucks...
