DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey everyone. Thought I'd share my 82 gs450L cafe racer. Bought it for $300 with 10k on the clock and had sat since 1990. A buddy and I put her together. To adapt the E tank we had to relocate the coils inside the frame neck and move the tank ear mounts forward as well as fab a bracket to lift the rear of the tank up about an inch or so. The tank was a rusty mess. It was home to a family of rats in a boneyard lol. I started out with clubman bars but eventually moved up (down hehe) to clip ons. The exhaust is a homemade 2-1 using a set of harley pipes we had laying around. Even uses the harley baffle. Sounds really good. Simple hand made side covers. RFY rear shocks and progressive fork springs. The tail lights from a 42 ford and the tail is a fiberglass piece from cb750.Com known as "the ducktail". Was recently GIVEN an 82 gs450E so I swapped the 18f 18r wheels from it. Sure beats the L 19f 16r combo. Also I kept the 42 tooth sprocket from the L wheels and used it with the E wheels. Bike is a lot happier on the highway now than I've dropped roughly 1k rpms at 70mph. Have yet to decide on a rear set setup. This is my 1st bike and she's a blast to ride. Feedback is welcome.

Welcome to the site, Shaun.
Nice work on transforming the dead L into our own rider.
Agreed on the 18 inch "stance" being much better.
How about a pic of the rear including the tail lights.

My God, that was the ugliest L I have ever see . The way the back end is up it looks like it had 15" shocks on it! Haha
Looks like you really turned it into something nice.
We like pictures. You should share some more.

Thanks guys! Here's a shot of the rear. Once I find how to put up multiple pics from my tablet I have a lot more to share received_975832312481074.jpg
