A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A very handy tool!

I mentioned in another thread that my cheapo gas line sprung a leak just as I was pulling into the driveway. The rubber was done but I had also tightened the clamp at the carbs way to tight and it bit into the hose over time.

I really did not want to pull the carbs to get to the clamp but it was way in the middle seated nicely just out of reach. After removing the gas tank I tired a variety of screw drivers and angles but I just couldn't get to the screw. The stubby screw drivers shaft was too short and the handle to fat and any other screwdriver was just a touch too long.

Finally I landed on using my 1/4 drive bit on a 4 in extension and while it fit in and reached it was a bit of a pain trying to get it loose just holding the smooth end of the extension. I was thinking if I only had a wheel or something on the end it would be great and was going to fabricate something .. dont know what but I had an idea but

I had to go to lowes for some home stuff and decided to see if there was another solution and I found this

I thought .. holy moly .. that is perfect!!

It has a square drive on one side and a hexagon on the other and it comes with three bits. Most of us have no use for the phillips or flat since those breed in my tool box but it also comes with a drive adapter. I put on my 4 inch extension and a bit and the job was a breeze. It reaches like a dream to get at the carb screws for adjustment and I have already found a dozen other uses. So long as it isnt anything you need to really wrench down on it a perfect size and since its so small it is now part of my traveling tool kit.

Its simply a Nicely knurled round piece built for adapters. Think it was around $5. Just thought I would share. It works great in those tight spaces.

Tool pics are almost as good as bike pics.
I have something similar for getting at the bottom of certain carbs when still on the bike.

I think this might be exclusive to Lowes? It has become very convenient and when putting together a carry tool kit its nice when useful things can be small. I found its pretty good at getting to the boot clamps at my air box without having to lift the tank very high too.

Cowboyup .. I look forward to your invention!! :)
