A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

getting the airbox back on after removing is a royal p.i.t.a. i can't seem to get the hoses onto the carbs and the frame mounting bolts to line up properly, or vice versa. the hoses are not rigid yet but aren't the most pliable. it actually looks like the airbox holes (where the hoses go), when the box is bolted to the frame, is 3-5mm higher than the carb inlets.

i'm thinking a little mod to the top mounting bracket on the airbox that will provide some mounting flexibility. any advice?

My advice? Don't do it. :-k

Look at it this way: it used to work with stock parts, it should do it again.
Maybe you don't have the airbox boots turned the correct direction?
Some are different, meaning it will make a difference if you turn them over.

Anything you mod now, you will have to make other adjustments for later on.
How adventurous do you feel? :o

i saw new hoses on bike bandit for 11 bucks each. maybe they're more flexible. i did line the dots with the hoses to the ones on the box. having never seen one of the bikes in 'perfect' shape, i don't really know how the hoses should feel.

I always put the vacuum hose and fuel line on the carbs first, push the box boots over the carb inlets from roughly the 10 o'clock position twisting the the 12 o'clock position, snug the top bolts slightly, push the box from the bottom untill the boots bottom out fully on the carbs, and then tighten the upper mounting bolts fully. After that I route the vent hoses over the top of the box and you are done. It also seems easiest to put the box in from the throttle side.

i'm with you to here. when i get the boots fully on the carbs, the bracket holes on the box are nearly 1/2 inch lower than the frame bracket. i was looking at the boots a minute ago and they do look a little deformed and don't want to slip up fully on the bottom side of the carbs.
