Anyone used one of these?

I want to add a voltmeter but I'm hesitant to use the not-so-waterproof Show Chrome version that others have used.

I like it but what I'm curious about is that it "constantly monitors" the battery and of course it has the ring terminals to attach directly to the battery which leads me to believe it is always powered up which essentially means it is constantly draining the battery, I might be wrong about it though.

I have mounted volt-meters on my cars and have been looking for one for my bike but I've always wired them to only be active when the ignition is on. So I'm not really sure how good this meter is. If you get one and install it please let us know how you like it.

For that price I would mount a VDO gauge

There are a couple of different styles and pods to cover it are avaliable for $10-$15 bucks

I've got one mounted on my bike. Seems to work fine. It is always on but the drain on the battery is small. I had an analog gauge before but prefer a digital readout.

I have not been able to ride much lately so I left the battery on the tender. I imagine that if the monitor sits long enough (months) it would discharge the battery.

I would shop around, I bought mine off ebay a few months back and it was around $30.

I used velcro to attach it to the top of the shift indicator. It sits behind the windshield so it doesn't move much. It's small so you could mount it pretty much anywhere.

Well worth it, if you think of it as a full-time voltmeter, with the added bonus of displayed battery health & cranking performance. With a 5 year old Yuasa AGM still going strong in my bike, I would be curious to see what the gauge says...probably "Replace battery immediately, cheapskate" .....which I plan on doing anyway, although it is still trouble-free.
