A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

BAT-PAC FROM EBAY

I just purchased a Bat-Pac unit from ebay alittle bit ago and waiting for it to come. I was wondering if anyone tried it already. It basically eliminates the battery. You cannot use any accessories until it is started by the kick. Then it is basically a voltage regulator and current supressor. It says to eliminate the need to ever worry about the stator and regulator on bikes. But again you cannot use the electrics until it is started.

Also on a side note, the GS425L sold on Ebay saturday for $650. I will try the Bat-Pac on my honda and let everyone know how it goes... See everyone later...Chris

it will take care of regulator rectifier, but if the stator takes a dump your still dead on the road, it is best used as a replacement or backup for the reg/rec, with the battery still in the system, witch will help with the dim lights you will have with this unit at low revs with out the battery, also you have to be able to shut the headlight off while kick starting it, if you go with out the battery

So it would be ok to use this thing with the battery still in the bike? I recieved the Bat-Pac and its weight is very light. What components would they use to make something like that? It can't be that complicated. Its an excellent idea and am looking forward to trying it out.
