If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi guys. I took the bike for a run yesterday and after about 1 mile it died, felt like there was no fuel getting through, it did this once before and I suspected dirty petrol so fitted an inline filter. Looking at the filter yesterday it had no petrol in it and I now wonder if the tank is clogged up inside preventing the fuel from getting through or if the carbs might be to blame. Would appreciate any tips. Have taken the tank off now to swill through with cleaner. Bike is a gs850. Thanks Wayne

First suggestion would be to clean the tank and get rid of the filter. :-\\\

Most of the filters that are available are for cars and trucks with pressurized fuel systems. The only fuel pump in your bike is called "gravity" and is not strong enough to overcome the inherent resistance of automotive-style filters. If you absolutely feel that you must have a filter, go to Lowe's or Tractor Supply Company and get one for a lawn tractor. They also have gravity-fed fuel systems.

By the way, there is already supposed to be a filter on the inlet of your petcock and additional filters at the inlet of each carb's float valve. Why do you need another one in between them?

Second suggestion is to make sure you have enough gas in the tank or put it on RESERVE.

Hi steve I am going to ditch the filter as it was a bit bulky and i'm not convinced it didn't intefere with the flow of petrol. The thing is the bike also did this before I fitted the filter as well. Am cleaning the tank out now, I had the petrol tap on reserve and when it died I put it on prime to try to ensure petrol was getting through. It ran again for about 1/2 mile then died again. Thanks Wayne

It ran again for about 1/2 mile then died again.

Disconnect the fuel line from the petcock. Switch to PRI. Does fuel flow ? Back to ON or RES. Suck on the vac hose. Does fuel flow ?

Make sure the vac hose on the petcock is not kinked or is a loose fit On the ends. Might as well check the fuel supply hose as well.
