    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

blowing fuses after new lights and signals

My bike seems to be blowing the tail/turns/dash warning & and shift indicators fuse when I use the turn and brakes at the same time. Turns go solid when I squeeze the brakes then they go out completely followed with the dash. How can I over come this little problem? I have a aftermarket tail and turnsignals installed that I'm guessing these old bikes can't take. Any help is greatly appreciated
 
I would think that some how you are grounding the circut and blowing the fuse. Maybe something in the wiring from your new lights. For kicks pull the tail bulb and try it see if you get a differant result. Discribe the wires that came with the lights.
 
The situation with the brake effecting the turn signals so they dont blink makes me think that something is incorrectly connected.

Trace the wires from your aftermarket tail light and t/signals, and tell us what wire (color and stripe) each one is connected to.
Maybe someone here with a scehmatic for your bike can confirm if it is connected properly.

well i switched to the stock light drilled and mounted to the bottom of the seat...which stopped the blowing of the fuse along with going back to stock turn signals. light lasted all of 20 hours before i hit a pothole and crushed it under the seat pan. so i ripped the rest apart and cut it up and mounted it thru the back of the defective light that i liked that was two bulbs. works for me cuz its back on the road. thanks for the tip
 
Ah! The ol'e shorting out and blowing fuses saga!
There's a ground wire on your frame, remove it, use sandpaper where it bolts to the frame, also clean up the terminal with sandpaper, then once cleaned up, use a little bit of grease on all sanded areas and bolt back up, this should help with your saga.
Also, carefully try unplug all connecters (one at a time) and clean them up so that they have good connections.
