DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hmmmmmm interesting. any clues as to why they don't carry this dynojet kit stateside? i've found the 83+ model 450L kit on the dynojet website, but the fella on the phone said it wasn't compatible with my carbs. i'm skeptical, but not about to risk a bunch of scratch on something like that.

I'm not sure, but I suspect emissions related.

For me to buy it here the local reseller wants $AU180+ for it which is why I just went with trial and error and Mikuni jets. I've spent less than $70 so far so I should be ahead even buying some more mains and needles.

The '83 and onwards are definitely not compatible with your carbs either, different floats, jets, and needle.

My 2 Cents

My 2 Cents

I have an 82 GS450L that I have cut the mufflers off and replaced the air box with two individual pods. The stock needle is a 4c2, main jet is a 115 and the pilot is a 17.5. While riding from idle to 1/4 throttle the bike would accelerate but from 1/4-3/4 throttle it would bog down. At full throttle it would accelerate again. Also when decelerating it would back fire and spit and sputter.

I went to a local motorcycle salvage yard and purchased (2) 22.5 Pilot Jets and installed them. This cured the stumble from idle to 3/4 throttle by allowing more gas flow through the system. It also fixed the backfiring.

Now the only problem is at full throttle it spits and sputters from not getting enough full. If you turn the choke on all the way it smooths out at full throttle due to the choke reducing the amount of air being taken in.

Also when relieving the throttle from full throttle to idle the engine would hiccup and the return itself to idle, this resulting from the pilot jet attempting to produce enough full where the main is lacking.

Then next step for me is 130 main jets. I will keep you guys posted on my results after Tuesday when they come in at the local store as the salvage yard did not have these.

Also for elevation questions if there are any I live in the armenia mtn are of PA.

Ok I have received the 130 main jets and installed them. Now the bike runs very strong after I adjusted the air/ fuel screws to compensate the change in the mixture. Now I will ride it a couple tanks and then check the plugs to see if im running to rich or lean now. I will keep on posting results as they come.
