    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Carb clean/sync - How much ?

I'm looking for a bike, and wondering, if it needs carb work, typically how much should it run to get carbs done on an 1100 ?
How much shop time is involved to do this ?

Depending on how much work it takes, the price could vary greatly. With a decent set of carbs (no excess corrosion, etc.), I figure about an hour to remove them from the bike and break down the rack. I will take the first carb apart and get it into the dip and let it sit overnight. Next day, I take that one out, dip the second one and re-assemble the first one. Next day, remove #2, dip #3, re-assemble #2, and continue until they are all done, then I re-assemble the rack and do a bench sync. I would guess that all totalled, I might have about 4 hours into the cleaning. At $75 per hour, that would be $300, plus other services, as requested. These could include jetting changes or whatever.

Good thing I don't charge myself that much, I couldn't afford it. :shock:

Man, at this $75 bucks an hour rate I need to get a hell of a lot better at this and take it up as a second job.
 
It must be spring. Lots of posts for people wondering how much it costs to have things fixed :P If people would do this over the winter there would be steady work!

Anyway its gonna be big bucks to have your carbs rebuilt, installed, tuned, and synced. So if you don't want to fork out the cash you will have to do it yourself. Then all you have to buy is parts and maybe some tools :)
