A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I noticed that carbs 1 & 4 use caps to plug what would be access holes if they were 2 & 3 (see pic, 26,27,28,13) has anyone ever had these leak air before? After say a carb dip??

Are parts 61/60 for the choke slides?

Number 26 is a seal that will harden and shrink with age. It needs replaced even if you don't soak the carb. Being rubber it is in the same sorry shape that all the rubber parts are in. If you think your bike runs great, replace them and you'll be impressed.

I actually saw fuel leaking out of the #4 end. I used a standard o-ring and it's fixed.

Diagram CV

I have been looking for a larger and clearer diagram for the CV carbs for a while and your will be very helpfull. Could you possibly post the description list for the item numbers as well.
Much appreciated

Thanks,
I have put that in a spreadsheet and can now add the o-ring sizes and stainless steel replacement bolt sizes for a record. The actual diagram is a bit grainy and if anyone has a higher resolution carb diagram for the GS1000G 1980 BS34SS carbs I will appreciate it.

I looked around and couldn't find another site with a better diagram, however, according to my parts cross reference, the 1981 1000G and GL use the same carbs as the '80 G. The '81 GL diagram at Alpha Sports is much clearer and, after a brief look, appears to be the same except for the wire bracket they added to keep the clutch cable from interfering with the carb linkage.

Thanks, yes that one is much better and one can see the parts better. The GS850 one is still much clearer on a print out though. Hopefully someone will scan a copy in from a manual as it seems if the microfiches do not give such great copies. Using the two together in the meantime, as I will be taking mine apart as soon as the o-rings arrive in the post.
Your help and input is much appreciated
