A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

The views expressed in this forum are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of "The GSResources" or the editors.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bit the bullet before Thanksgiving and ordered a Caswell copy cad zinc plating kit having heard good things about the company.

Was hoping to tackle the project over my Christmas break but currently still waiting for the order to ship.
First time I called (Dec 12th) they told me they were back ordered for chemicals, but they were expected Monday (16th), my order would go to the top of the list and would ship then.
Just called them a second time to be told anodes are on back order, again delivery expected Monday and my order would go to the top of the list to ship Monday.

Understand companies have supply issues but Caswell hasn't taken a nose dive I don't know about have they?

Let us know what happens Martin. I was just about to order a 2 part epoxy tank liner kit

I'm a long term Caswell's copy cad user, and my advice is to cancel your order. The "kit" is a bad value. All you need is the electrolyte chemicals, brightener, and whatever coloring chromates you need. I use yellow and blue, with blue being clear, that improves corrosion durability.

These chemicals are in stock. I ordered some recently and they shipped in about a week.

You will want a pail, with a nice sturdy lid. Buy some zinc anodes from a boat. I get mine from Amazon.

A motorcycle battery, with a couple different turn signals can be used for a power supply. Add signals, or remove, based on the need for more current flow. I put an amp meter in line. Or, watch for fizzing off the parts. You want a light fiz, but not crazy. Better yet, buy a cheap power supply from Amazon or eBay. That's what I use now, after several years with batteries. It's much more convenient.

Some people use an aquarium pump to circulate the water, but I don't think it's necessary.

Feel free to PM me with questions.

ZNBRADD1QZINC BRIGHTENER - 1 QT11
ZN15CCopy Cad & Zinc Concentrate 1.5 Gal11
YCHRC5GYELLOW CHROMATE SOLUTION - 4OZ11
BCC8BLUE CHROMATE CONCENTRATE - 8OZ11

This is my most recent order. $225.

Confirmation just hit my inbox, order has shipped.

Think you're ok to order Chuck. I've heard good reports on their tank liner but I bet you're a seasoned user anyway.

I read a long time ago that you use Caswell products Ed but I wish I'd found this info when I still had time to take action. Appreciate you sharing though, there will be a next time, live and learn I guess...

Lack of people here locally that actually know what they're doing is astonishing hence the reason I'm trying the plating myself. Don't ask about the powdercoat I just had done, then there's the quote for respraying a tank and two side covers, $1500.00 - I'll be learning to spray paint next!

Why did I move????

Martin moved to Florida!

Plenty of good cheap spray guns out there. What you do need is a proper sized compressor to run them.
