A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i have the worst luck, just fixed the sputtering problem and this happens, park the bikes side ways on a hill and the foot stand slips and it falls. not too much happened but the shitty clutch lever snapped off. this is my main mode of transportation so i was wondering i could just cement it on until i can get a new one? whats the strongest glue around that would stick to that type of material, its not metal , its some kind of porous alloy.

When I broke my clutch lever I cut a piece of 1/2 in. metal tube{the kind used for elect wiring}put it on what was left and crimped it tight with vise grips. It is still ok and I will use if I break lever again. You could drill a 1/8 in. hole through pipe and lever and bolt it also.

I just bought a clutch and brake lever from Dennis Kirk as spares in case of just such a mishap. $3.99 each. Don't try to fix the old one (it should be aluminum) with glue of any kind. Buy new one(s). I don't go far without spare levers, 'cause bad things happen and I hate paying outrageous dealer prices (or pushing the bike home) when I'm on the road.

Don't even think about glueing it!

Don't even think about glueing it!

Pattern clutch levers are very cheap and they won't snap off - no glue is going to hold a clutch lever together.

Note that a replacement lever may not have the cut-out / holes to attach the starter cut-out switch on your original lever so you may not be able to refit that. The cut-out switch is plugged into the loom inside the headlamp shell. Just trace the wires, unplug them and you should find you're left with one male and one female connector inside the headlamp. Just plug the two together and you have bypassed the cut-out.

Save the old switch and be careful taking it off the broken lever 'cos it's easy to lose the tiny spring and contact.
