Hi to every one on here i,m after clutch plates and springs but not keen on buying from ebay, anyone here know where i
might get or which brand i should be looking for.

The only thing with buying from the states is shipping costs and import duties which are eye watering.
any info would be appreciated,

anyone have thoughts on buying geko plates or are ebc just as good vesrah do plates but i cant seem to find those in the uk.

Any ifo/advice before i spend my hard earned money i just dont want to cock it up making a bad purchase.

Kind regards,Mark.

Unless your bike has been horribly abused or hot-rodded, it is likely that you might only need springs.

As Agemax says, stick with OEM, especially with the springs. Too many riders will experience some slip, so they decide to take care of it by installing "heavy duty" springs. They then find out that their left arm starts looking like the Hulk and it literally becomes a pain riding theh bike. The stock springs are very adequate, even for some modest power upgrades, and they are cheaper as well. :encouragement:

thanks but where can i buy oem or stock parts this side of the pond or do i have to bite the bullet and buy from your side of the pond
and if so who would i be contacting to buy oem/stock parts.

i saw a part on ebay 12 dollers shipping 18 dollers cost more than the part it sucks.

Or London Suzuki Centre as was. Now called Franco's.
Excellent place, I've been getting parts from them for decades.

Fwiw, I've recently fitted EBC clutch plates and a mix of three new standard springs and three heavier ones. The clutch action at the lever is still very civilised.

Thanks for the info Grimly appreciate it so if i cant get oem you say ebc are ok to use their clutch plates are all over the internet
and a reasonable brand,I would use oem parts but if it means they can only come from the states i would use other brands which is why

i posted in the first place i only want to do this job once then move on and do the fork seals/oil change.
End of season take out engine and overhaul.

If you're dead set on using OEM, then Franco's or Robinson's or any one of a hundred Zuk dealers can give you them. The GSs are still well supported in the new spares market, even by Suzuki. In fact, Suzuki UK have an ebay outlet with a lot of specific older spares that might be harder to find, like the rear brake caliper pins I've just ordered from them.

Thanks but i have ordered ebc friction plates, standard springs and managed to find an nos suzuki clutch gasket just waiting on
delivery, new oil and filter am looking forward to working on my lovely suki.

Any problems i,ll be back here.

Cheers all,mark.

I also need a clutch for my '79 gs1000. Some old school jap bike guys told me also buy oem else cork from ebc or vesrah. Last night in a tear i picked the ebc ck3335 but saw the ck3345 which should also fit. And cost a little more then vesrah so I figured it better.. but end also makes a Kevlar clutch (as do others like bsrnett) and an aramid paper clutch. Wondering if my old school advice was behind the times.. What do most street riders put on their gs1000? This must be a common question .

I would guess that probably 90% of us are still on the original clutch plates. :-k

Those that have changed, probably replaced with OEM.
