    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Clutch Won't Fully Disengage

Some weeks ago I pulled my clutch to inspect it (though it was operating fine) and I also did it to remove the shift shaft so I could replace that seal. Everything looked fine. Everything. Went back together fine. I have been working on this project for a several months. Since I removed the clutch I have run the bike several times but had not taken it out of neutral. Good thing too, cuz if I would have put it in gear it would have went through my garage door. While on the center stand today I noticed that I could barely (with a lot of force) turn the rear wheel when in gear with the clutch lever pulled. I removed the clutch once again just to see if maybe I had not assembled it properly before. Again, everything looked fine. I made sure the vertical shaft was turned counter clockwise before I attached the arm that the cable pulls. I tried adjusting both ends of the cable all the way in before connecting the arm and then adjusting them out but no matter how far I go, I have to use a lot of force to turn the wheel with it in gear and the clutch lever pulled. I can see through the oil fill cap that the clutch is moving out as it should when the lever is pulled. This has me puzzled. I would appreciate any input.
 
It's not unusual that you can't spin the rear wheel by hand while the tranny is in gear even with the clutch pulled. Put it up on the center stand fire it up, put it in gear and then pull in the clutch and see if you can stop the wheel USING YOUR REAR BRAKE.

By chance did you install an extra plate kit?
 
Rudeman, you are correct. The clutch is working fine. I tested on the center stand as you suggested and it was fine. Took it for a short ride around the neighborhood. I was scratching my head over it because other bikes I've worked on will spin easily when in gear and clutch lever is pulled. Thanks for your advise. I'm not familiar with the extra plate kit.
