A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am looking to buy a set of carb's. My bike is an 82 GS1100EZ, with the original Mikuni Carb's. The carb's I am looking to buy are the original Mikuni's off of an 1983 GS1000. Can anyone tell me if they are the same carb's? Parts interchangeable?

Your expertize is appreciated,

Tony

I am not worried about the Jets. My carb's are already tuned to my bike with a Kerker Jet Kit. I can always swap the jets if the carb's are the same.

Thanks,

Zuzu

IIRC, all the bigger bikes of that era used the same BS34s, just the jetting was different.

I picked up a set of "parts carbs" off an 850 on eBay and, except for the jets, they're identical to my '83 1100GL's carbs.

850s normally have 32 mm carbs

I would be correct then in saying "that there is no major differences in the Mikuni BS34MM-SS used in all engines" other then possibly the jetting and maybe some cable linkage?

I want a set for parts and to learn on. I want to make sure that the diaphragm's and all of the other main components would be interchangeable. That way if I need something in the future I would have the parts on hand.

BTW, I have been waiting on a diaphragm for 2 weeks now. I was told by the repair shop they are OEM parts only and have to come from Suzuki.

Your input is much appreciated,

Tony

Could have sworn 850s had BS34s. The auction I got my "parts" set from said they were off an 850, but since I found a set of Keihins off an 1150 to use for my 1100 I probably won't have much reason to pull the parts set apart and find out what size jets are in them.

zuzu: would they be BS34s if there were major differences? I think you're putting too much thought in to this. :)

Thats was my thought, But I wanted to be sure before buying a set for parts.

Thanks
