EBay seller alert - Wyomingben

I received this note today from Chris Van Vorous, forum username m0unds.

I just kinda wanted to give a heads-up about ebay/internet merchant Wyomingben. (ebay userid wyomingben)

They're listed as a top x seller on ebay. They've got well over 81000 sales. Their rating among ebayers is 98.3%, which comparatively isn't too bad. I purchased a Clymer manual for a '79 GS750E on the 21st of october. I received immediate confirmation (at 11 PM) that the order had shipped. Finding this strange, I waited for almost a week before I contacted wyomingben's. I talked to a customer service rep who told me that the order shipped on the 21st. When I asked how it was possible, since they don't staff that late, and the person went to check on it. When he returned, he notified me that it had shipped on the 22nd. Being satisifed, I waited for another week, and still no dice. I called again to confirm that it had indeed shipped, and asked if they used USPS confirmations (delivery/pickup, etc) and was informed that they don't, but the book should arrive shortly.

It's now the 13th of November. Upon further investigation, I noticed that th Wyomingben ebay store has well over 760 negative feedback ratings from the last 12 months, 103 in the last month. Every time a negative feedback was left, it was regarding shipping taking well over a month, even though they stated it had shipped earlier (postmark dates varied by 2-3 weeks following purchase, but company states it was shipped much earlier) upon receiving negative feedback, the company ALWAYS leaves negative feedback: "would never sell to this person again". without any further explanation as to why the shipment took 2-3 times longer than it should have.

I just wanted to leave the heads up, that it might be wise to avoid wyomingben's until they can figure out how to run a business.

(also, just as an aside to add to frustration: since I've ordered the book, I've ordered AND received all of the following through USPS: valve cover gaskets, ignition cover, grips, o-rings, fluids, mirrors, a battery, a manometer, jet kits, etc all ordered in small quantities at different times.)

Thanks,
Chris Van Vorous

Here is the latest update

Hi there again,

I've got an update. I tried contacting WyomingBen 7 times. I spoke to 5 different people, and the last person I spoke with (today) was the only one that was helpful. When I gave her my ebay ID, she looked up the information on my account, and told me that the manual should be here by now (...is that so? i never would have guessed...) at any rate; she told me she's ordered one to be shipped again, and that if I receive two, to just throw a "Return to sender" on it, and they'll handle shipping of it back to them. She apologized profusely for it taking so long. She's looking into their shipping dept to see if there was an outside reason for the delay.

Suffice it to say, I still would suggest dealing with WyomingBen with the utmost caution, as I've still not gotten very far in over a month. I cautioned her when I spoke with her that my bank told me to file a fraud complaint after 30 days, which is nearing quite quickly

Thanks,
Chris VV

Here is a new message from Steve Alderink

I just wanted to give credence to the message left on deadbeat Ebayer WyomingBen.

I also purchased a manual from this ebayer and it took almost a month to receive the manual. What is funny is that the conversation with WyomingBen by this person matched almost exactly what I received from WyomingBen just 1 day before my manual DID arrive.

I would say this is a great seller to stay away from.

Thanks for the great forum!

Steve

Chris gives his final update...

I received the manual in the mail today. The first thing I did was check the postmark date- Friday the 19th. When the customer service rep told me it can take 21 days + for the US Postal Service to deliver a parcel, I have a feeling it was just a way to get me off the phone. I can't stress how childish and unprofessional the majority of their staff is. Granted, they got the product to me, but much later than the 4 day window that was given at the time of purchase. 30 days after I bought the book, they had already had their money since 30 seconds after I purchased it, and I had to wait for the product for 30 days.

Another thing to really pay attention to if you REALLY, ABSOLUTELY have to deal with them: if you're dissatisifed with their service (as I am) and purchased from ebay, you'll be in for a surprise if you leave negative feedback. Every (and I mean EVERY time) someone leaves them negative feedback-- ranging from no product received, 45 day turnaround, damaged items, no contact, etc. Wyomingben leaves negative feedback back, just like a kid would-- no thanking the person for not filing a fraud complaint, no thanking them for giving their money and upholding their end of a purchase agreement-- just flat out: "would not sell to this buyer again".

So please, just use the utmost caution if you absolutely have to use them. (Try to find it somewhere else, they don't deserve your business)

Thanks guys,
Chris VV
