A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi Guys

Newbie here that needs some help. Picked up a GS1100G basket case recently. Frame is 12/81 and number suggests it's a 82 model. Engine that came with the project has

# U701-112696 and after DOT checks, is not the engine that was in the bike on last rego in 07.

Can someone please help with engine id, as engine does not want to fit between engine mounts. All seems to line up, even shaft drive, but with mount bushes installed in cases it is about 15mm to wide to fit between rear mounts, and the same on left lower. If I remove the bushes it drops in. Also engine mount brackets seem to be ok, but bolts are wrong length, which makes me think they may have been from the original engine.

Just want to get this worked out before I start resto.

Cheers
Cooky

The rubber mounts came on the later GK variant.

Well Nessism is correct, removed bushes and engine fits(can't stay that way). Went to a mates Shop who has GS and GK"s. GS lower rear mount is solid while GK is rubber mounted. So it seems GK frame mounts are further apart on the rear than GS frame. Appears I have a GS frame and a GK engine.

I suspect it's possible to custom make bushes to solve the problem. Either solid aluminium or urethane. I've made custom bushes from urethane for GSXR engines when in other frames and it works well. Got a friend with a lathe ?

Thanks Greg
That was 1 thought, have a lathe myself and a local shop sells urethane rod, My Mate also offered to sell me one of his GK wrecks to make 1 out of 2 or a rebuilt GS engine to fit the frame. 3rd option is to part out what I have and find a more complete project. I'm going to stare at it this week with a beer in my hand till my next bright idea hits haha.
