Float bowl screw size

So I know that bolt sizes are typically embedded in the part number, but not so sure about screw sizes as the numbers seem weird (the second segement of the part number usually starts with a 0 in my experience so far).

I'm trying to determine the size and thread pitch of my float bowl drain screws so I can order a tube fitting and make a gauge for measuring the fuel level in my float bowls.

Part 43 here has part number 13247-44080. Does that mean it is m4 x 8mm? Like:

13247-44080

And any idea on the thread size?

I just take one with me to Fastenal or the other local bolt place here in town and match it up.

Yeah. I may just do that. Do you think that a grease fitting would be the best for this application? Assuming I have drill / punch out the ball + spring? I may just try the "jam the tube in" method if I can't find anything.

I see a couple of problems in your post:
1. The "float bowl screws" are what holds the float bowl to the carb body. If you are wanting to make a fuel level gauge, you need to use the DRAIN screw.
2. Part #43 is a gasket (o-ring).
3. The part number you listed (p/n 13247-44080) is part #42, and is the drain screw (the one you are looking for).

Yes, usually, the size is encoded in the part number, but I happen to know that the drain screw is an M6 bolt, not an M4.
What I can't remember right off-hand is whether it is the stock 1.0 pitch.

Yes, I do mean the drain screw... I think it is part 43 though

I have seen those adapters on Z1 but didn't think they would fit my carbs - I have the Mikuni BS32 on mine - will the drain screws be the same size?? Hate to spend 10 bucks + shipping on something that doesn't fit.

Thanks man, I'm gonna investigate and see what I can do. I'm thinking a 1/4" OD tube like this one might do the trick... it's 6.35mm OD and 4.318 ID, so if the screw is 6mm then I'm thinking i can taper it down a bit on the end and jam it in there. Worth a try at least... I'll let you know if I end up needing the screws!
