A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

HI looking for replacement fork spring for a 80 gs1000gl ? one with leading axel , any out there .

OK went to sonic , and they list all the 1000 like they have the same spring , these are longer then the 79 /78 1000 springs , any one know whats up ??

All the 1000s weigh the same, so they can use the same spring. The only difference will be in the length of the spacer to make up the difference in the length of your fork.

I have Sonic springs in my 850 and love them. Depending on your gravitational attraction and riding style (and if you have a windshield/fairing on the bike), you might want the 1.0 or 1.1 springs. Pair that up with 10w fork oil and you will be set. :encouragement:

.

I recently bought a set of Sonic fork springs for my GS1000, (fitted with GSX1100SD Katana forks)
I was told the GS1000 springs would work just fine, so i ordered them.
When i got them i was quite concerned that they were 100mm shorter than the stock Kat springs so i emailed Jamie at Sonic and asked him if they sold the springs for the Katana. He said the GS1000 380mm springs were the correct ones for the Kat. Even though they were much shorter, they have 175mm travel, which is more than the 150mm travel the stock forks have. So they are perfectly suitable to use, with the correct length spacer added.

Also, you don’t actually want the same total spring/spacer length as stock.
The stock configuration generally has a lot of static preload, necessitated by the very soft stock spring rate. When you have the proper rate you need less preload, so the total length has to be shorter.
Sonic Springs come with directions, including sizing the spacer.
