Hey guys.

I've been looking around at the ABS and fiberglass fairing manufacturers and am trying to find some info.

I'd like to get a full fairing for my GS-750E (83).

Have any of you had any luck retrofitting some generic fairings like some of the ones below attached to this post?

Let me know, please.
You all have much more experience than I do.

As far as airtech, I have seen a friend with a bike painting business use them before because a customer brought one in. He thinks they are pretty rough.

Airtech is pretty thin race bodywork, I don't know how it would stand up as far as longevity goes. I don't know about Catalyst. As long as the bodywork is wide enough to go around the motor it should fit. I put a set of 93 TZ250 bodywork on my 89 TZR250, ( completely different bikes) and it ended up fitting good. You just have to make mounting brackets.

I asked Airtech to lay up 1 or 2 more layers of fiberglass when they made up my streetbike fairings, or tail sections. I bet if you ask them they will still do that for you.

Just make sure the full fairing you order will fit around a wide inline four cylinder.

Making the mounting brackets for the headlight and fairing will take some time to do.

You may want to try some early GSXR bodywork. If
I remember correctly the 83 750 and early gixxers are the same width

If it's any help, I have an Airtech fairing in my garage I can measure. It is the 86-87 GSXR "Endurance" fairing.

Beasley has pretty thick body parts. great products. This is where I order from.

making the mounts? -no easy answer- total custom fab and not easy to get straight and level. The bodies are not always perfectly symmetrical , it seems as if every bike is a little different

My 89 GSXR front body has 8 strong mounts and a good dash plate -ridgity at 100 mph is importatnt to me.... there is no wrong way to mount them except if it flies off at full speed - so dont use wood screws:D
My advice is to avoid the flimsy light weight stuff and use automotive strength as far as frame mounting anchors-- like from Summit or JEGS. The 0.660" (ex long) dzeus fasteners -- It will allow you to use stronger mounting plates (1/16") and outer body protecters.

FRP is another good mfg.

I recommend you check the catalog of Glass from the Past: http://caferacingparts.com/

The parts are handmade in Oregon, he supplies all of the local vintage road racers, and ships worldwide.

Give Bret (the owner) a call, tell him Patrick from Portland sent you!

As far as mounting, on my DT1 racer we used a piece of steel channel, about four inches long. In the channel we tapped two pairs of M6 holes (so buy channel that's thick enough to cut enough threads into). We welded the channel vertically to the frame neck, with the "U" of the channel outwards.

If you use a two-bolt fairing stay, then you can unbolt the fairing stay easily (you'll need to eventually). The two pairs of holes let you make height adjustment, in case your fairing setup didn't work out as planned.

I'll shoot some photos this weekend and get them up.

Hi,
You really have no choice but airtech, they were the leaders during that time frame off late 70-80's .
Kent built the team hammers,yoshimura,xr69,most F1 based U.S.A based bikes and other special framed motorycles running Gs powerplants .He is the only one with such a large collection off these moulds in the world.
I would try and try a old F1 style fairing as this would be period correct and would follow the lines off the bike better than a rounded honda style fairing.Transforming your Gs into a Suzuka 8 hr yoshimura replica.

Here's a photo of the technique I mentioned. You can see the channel welded to the steering head, and the fairing stay bolted on to it. (Fairing stay is exiting in the lower left hand of the photo). The photo is lousy, but hopefully you get the idea.

You can see I'm using one of the extra holes in the channel for a ground connection. The fairing stay could be moved up if necessary, using the extra holes.

There are additional stays holding the fairing, but this mount is the trickiest.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting, all.

I made contact with Airtech. Need to decide which fairing to get.
They recommended a couple as shown here:

Or maybe even this one:

I'm leaning towards the CR750, so I'd have to modify it for a headlamp

Pretty sweet, right?
