A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Are these plug and play or are modifications necessary? Advantages other than increase in tire size/selection??

Thanks for the info in advance!

Just so happens

Just so happens

Josh,
I went this way to 18" to reduce ground clearance problems associated with 17" wheels.

Doing:
88 GSXR 1100 3 spoke wheels
160/60-18 and 120-70-18 or 110-80-18 Likely Michelin Road Pilot2 's (radials)
Need 5/8 off set sprocket
Doing a 530 chain conversion as well 16T/48T
88 GSXR 1100 Forks and triple (welding upper triple to stock bars and gauge mounts from a doner GS1100ED Top triple clamp)
88 brakes MC,calipers,rotors
Bandit swing arm (but stock works with a reweld of the brake arm support on the swinger)

It is hard to make up for the 1/2 loss between going from 19" to 17" on the front wheel. While I'm not going USD, the 41 mm 88 forks are pretty hefty (only 1/4" shorter than the GS1100ED) and go along way to improve the braking with 310mm floating rotors/ 4 piston calipers.

I have a set of blacked out 87 1100 wheels.

Do you have any technical specs of where the brake arm support would need to be located? I can fit a 110 on the stock E front wheel, but would like the wider wheel out back, so Id like to try that for ease of swap if possible...

Josh,

I can fit a 110 on the stock E front wheel,

Yea, but you are not getting the stiffer fork, better brakes or running a radial tire on the front?

I think the only reason the rear swinger brake arm needs to be change is to move the rear caliper from top mount to bottom mount. The brake arm also needs to be bent to clear the wider tire.

I know you need to have the brake caliper hanger the right one for the rear rotor diameter. Not sure if you can just use stock caliper and a longer arm for the rear.

The swing arm conversion for the aluminum ED, is simple but I have not done it ask Mike at link above.

Katman is doing a Bandit arm for me with bandit brake arm.
