DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm not sure if I'm even calling this the right thing, but the carbs I have are missing one of those little screws that you have to adjust to sync the carbs (the one that's got VERY fine thread).

Does anyone know where to get another one? Or the proper name for it?

Thanks

Hi Mr. shinjef,

I'm not sure if you need the "idle mixture" screw (on top/front of each carb) or if you need the "lever" assembly that's used to adjust the vacuum sync (#'s 15, 20, and 24).

There's a list of our favorite online vendors in the "mega-welcome" below. Many of these vendors have online parts fiches with exploded views making it easy to find the part you need. I like to use the Suzuki fiche at www.alpha-sports.com to find part numbers but go to other, less expensive places to purchase ( www.partshark.com is usually the cheapest ). Here's my "welcome thang". Note: All the blue type below is click-able.

Here is your very own magical, mystical, mythical, mind-expanding "mega-welcome". Please take notice of the "Top 10 Common Issues", the Carb Rebuild Series, and the Stator Papers. Now let me roll out the welcome mat for you...

Please click here for your mega-welcome, chock full of tips, suggestions, links to vendors, and other information. Then feel free to visit my little BikeCliff website where I've been collecting the wisdom of this generous community. Don't forget, we like pictures! Not you, your bike! :D

Are you missing just the screw or are you also missing the spring, washer and o-ring?
I have an 80 GS550 and I couldn't find the part number on any Fische I came across, nor could any of the bike shops in town. The best they could figure was that it could only be ordered from Suzuki by getting an entire carb body.
I'd check your local salvage yard since they might be willing to part with one if they have a body that's scrap.
I did end up ordering one (a complete screw, spring etc.) through a local shop but they didn't make the one specifically for my bike and after recieving it, it wasn't exactly identical so I wound up fixing my screw and keeping the new one as a spare. I can't recall the name of the company, but it was one of the major suppliers of parts here in Canada. I think it was $7 and I got it in a few days.
So either check your local shop for an aftermarket one, or your local salvage yard.

Correct. Since the mixture screw was factory set and sealed under a cap, they are not listed in the regular parts fiches.

Mr. shinjef, if you put a post in the "Parts Wanted" section, I'm sure there are lots of these part hanging around in members' garages. Or you could call one of our favorite vendors on the telephone and ask questions. Perhaps start by picking the one close to you, like http://crc2onlinecatalog.com/ .

It's the "lever" assembly. I'll check out those sites and see if I can snag something. Thanks a lot guys!
