If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi Everybody

I have an 83 gs650L with a rusting out seat pan and am looking for a replacement.

I found a 650E seat pan on the Bay- will that fit? The back/lock area looks very different but I wonder if all else is the same.

Any info on compatability or pan source would be much appreciated.

Thanks

No, won't fit.

Besides being a completely different shape, the E seat hinges on the side, the L seat slides into channels at the front and latches at the rear.

How bad is the rust? If you can't find a replacement, it may be an easy fix to just repair the one you have. The pan on my 750L was badly rusted and pitted. I used electrolysis to remove the rust. Coated the metal with rust preservative paint and now it is serviceable. I'll need to weld some small bits of metal to the pan in a couple of spots so I can secure the cover but this is no big deal. If I was a perfectionist, I could have also filled the pitted areas with a metal reinforced body filler. Even if you've got rust holes these should be pretty easy to fix with some metal and a welder.

I have a seat, take a look at the link in my signature,, and PM me an offer.

Thanks for the info. My pan is very rusted, the front hooks have fallen off- all the metal underneath them is rotted.

Good to know about the E seat.

Sean, I'll give you a call today.
