DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm looking at buying what is described as a '78 GS1000. Looking at the standard bikes in the gallery, this one's livery doesn't seem to match. This bike is all black, but has a white stipe along the top centre of the tank and the tail peice. Does this denaote a specific model or is it merely one of many paint schemes that were used?

Thanks

Darryl

Re: GS1000 Livery (1978)

I dont believe that would be a factory paint scheme. I cant recollect any of the GS line coming with that combination. Could be wrong though, as I have recently been reminded that a mind is a terrible thing to lose. :-)

Could be aEuro model. Some of them had different paint schemes.
Doug,CragAntler posted a paint chart showing models and years of paint.

Somewhere on this web site..........

Yeah, I should have mentioned that it was a British bike. Actually there seems to be two white stripes across the top centre of the tank and tail piece, about 2 or 3 inches apart. Also a big GS log sits on top of the tank, so it looks like a pukka suzuki thing.

I'll have to have a look for the colour scheme post.

Thanks.

Darryl

black with two white stripes running down the center??
sounds like a skunk!

It is indeed the skunk! :)

In 78 they made your bike with that paint and it was quickly dubbed the skunk because of the black with a white stripe.

There are a few in the gallery under 78.

Here is the first one that comes up. It's a nice one too :)
