A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys. This is my first post. I just got my first bike a couple days ago. It's an 82 gs1100 this is mostly stock. The previous owner got bumped of the rear fender by a truck which smashed the fender a little bit (not bad at all) so I thought it would be a good reason to chop the fender a little instead of buying a new one. Iv thought about going with a different style of seat as well. I love the look of solo seats, but I think with the large tank it may not look right. So, has anyone got any type of custom, smaller seats of their bikes? I saw one that looked very good so I contacted the owner. He informed me that it came off of a mini bike. With that being said, I'm open for any advice at all. I love the look of this bike, all except that huge seat we have. Any pics or details would be great for this new owner! tha.is guys!

You've come to the right place. Careful what you ask for around here....opinions are plentiful and before you know it your head swims with info. If you can turn a wrench and follow directions you'll do great and be up and running in no time. If you haven't found the NOOB link yet look for it, and get acquanited, and the welcome wagon will be here shortly. In the meantime, fill in some info about yourself, and POST PICS OF YOUR BIKE. If you're not sure how, there is a link to that as well.

Hi Mr. fannin88,

There is no aftermarket any more for these bikes. So let your imagination run wild. If you have any metal fabrication skills you can modify the seat pan a bit to get the size you want. Then take the seat pan to an auto upholsterer for the seat foam and seat cover. If you look through the gallery you might find a few ideas. Be sure that all the regular maintenance is caught up. To help with that, here is your "mega-welcome". :)

If you are here you probably have a 30 year old motorcycle that needs about 20 years worth of maintenance. You'll find all kinds of helpful tips, procedures, manuals, diagrams, "how-to" guides, etc, in the links below. Let's get started.

Let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'. :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.
