A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does anybody know of a heavier spring for the Ikon shocks on a GS1100E?

I replaced my shocks at about 17,000 miles because I felt they weren't working as well as they did when new. I replaced them with Koni 7610-1394 shocks. They have 3 position preload, and 4 position damping adjustment. I see that Koni no longer makes shocks for motorcycles, but that Ikon Suspension in Australia took over manufacturing the same shocks.

I haven't been totally happy with these, mainly due to the springs. They come with 100-185 dual rate springs, but they seem a little soft. I only weigh 165 lbs, but on minimal preload, half the travel is used up just sitting on the bike, and they bottom with about any but the smallest bump. I'm running them on max preload now, and they seem to work OK, but I'm afraid my wife might ask me to take her for a ride, and I can't imagine that much weight on these shocks.:) I wasn't able to find any heavier springs for the Koni's on the Ikon website, that I could see..

So maybe I need to replace the shocks. I looked at the Progressive website and wasn't particularly impressed with what they had. I then looked at the Works Performance site, and it looked like they can build anything I need, but the prices were pretty steep!

Any way, I still have the original shocks somewhere in my garage, and I'm almost tempted to put them back on, though they were a little mushy if I remember correctly.

I have a set of Works shocks on my 850, I would try sending an Email to Icon about purchase of replacement springs. You might check with the dirt bike shops too.

Hey Deny....may I suggest you send me $20 to prevent the wife from seeing this. :-D

Ha Ha, good one. I was actually thinking "What would she think if she saw this", when I posted it. Of course she would think the worst! But I probably should have said, more accurately, "A passenger"
