A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I scored a pair of these panniers for my GSX1100 but there are no brackets and I wondered where i could get some info or maybe a pic or two of these brackets before I start hacking into the job.
Regards
Tony

What bike do yo have; a 90's GSX1100G or late 80's GSX1100F? If you have a rear luggage carrier on you bike you might be able to hand some braekts off of that.

Even the GK itself does not have specfific mounting brackets for the bags. The bike comes stock with a rear carrier.

The bags mount on the rear carrier at the top and with a bracket for the lower, plus a stiffener/bumper across the rear.

If you will not be using a rear carrier, then you will have to fabricate the mounts.

Tony, I have a GK (and manual and microfisch) and would be willing to take pictures for you. But I quess would requires a translation of "pannier" (yes, a lot of things need to be explained to me.).

Thanks for the replies. My bike is a Gsx1100ES so it looks like installing the panniers (side mount carry boxes) will need a fab' job. I just missed out on getting the rack and top box, however, a friend of mine is pretty good with jobs like this. Hey REdman, I'd like to see an exploded view/diagram of the original mounting system if possible. Once again, thanks for the help

Hey, Tony,

Send me a personal message (PM) and include an email address, and I'll send you a scan or two of the mounting frames in the next day or two.

I could send you this picture file.

I added red arrows showing where the side bags are attatched to the frame(s).

I could describe the places where the frame(s) attatche to the bike, but your bike (not being a GK) may not have those places.

Can see the bracket/frame somewhat in this pic.

Wow, thanks Redman - that's exactly what I was looking for!
Many thanks and regards
Tony
