A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Gs650e carb tuning for mac 4-1 and velocity stacks

As tom203 mentioned, CV carbs need some intake vacuum to operate well. This may be vacuum related and something that simply can't be cleared while running the velocity stacks. Does 5700rpm equate to a speed you run regularly? If you really want to keep the stacks would changing gearing a tooth or two on the back solve your issue? Is it possible to try longer velocity (or shorter) stacks to see if that changes your issue? How does it run if you remove the stacks altogether?

Mark

Thanks for your reply. 5700 isn't my usual cruise rpm but my friends cruise around this rpm so it usually just rears it's ugly head when I'm with them. Otherwise it doesn't bother me... More like an unsolved mystery type deal.

I took stacks off and still had the same issue. I understand that CV's need vacuum to operate well but I read of a few people running pods and jet kit without issue. Figured I'd follow up.

I have APE pods and a Kerker 4-1 on my 1100E and it runs fine, but velocity stacks offer zero vacuum where the pods seem to offer just enough to keep the CV's happy.

Definitely some merit to this! Put on some dual pod filters last weekend, no more cruising bog. Thanks for the suggestions!

Well damn. Velocity stacks will be arriving soon to replace my K&N dual pod filters. I just wanted to give them a shot, but it looks like it will make things worse.

Lol...well if you tune it just right, itll be a subtle bog at cruise only. Something i couldnt live with.

Amen. BUT...I can't see this bike working well with these stacks at all. I had an issue at both ends of the lean and rich spectrum.
