A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

keep the updates coming. are you replacing the airbox boots as well?

Update on my rebuild so far.

Cabs are completely cleaned and reganged together. Going to bench sync them in the morning. I wish I had realized how long it was going to take to get parts shipped here. I am worried I won't be able to get it all back together properly.

Can't seem to remember where the vent t's lines from the carb go. . . Anyone have a decent diagram? I tried the service manual but no luck.
They run up and over the airbox plenum, and back down to exit below the frame.

Did you see the diagram on page 9-30 of the service manual?

Appreciate the diagram BigD. Looks like the PO had the vents routed onto the top of the air box and through a little loop on top. I guess either way works.

My parts came in today, so hopefully I will have her running by tomorrow, meybe even with enough time for a test drive. That would be nice.

Well, she lives. Got everything put together correctly I assume. I had an issue with it dying when I came to a stop. Rode by the bike shop and the guy thought the diaphram in the petcock was bad and said I needed a rebuild. Got to playing with it and realized the idle screw kept backing itself out. Frew drops of blue threadlocker and that issue went away.

I think it still needs the carbs synced with a carbtune, but I don't have access to one at the moment. Now I need to get her cleaned up and I already have my next project idea ready. Going to install a usb charger so I can mount a cell phone with gps software on it.

There's a little spring on idle stop screw that prevents screw from backing off - you shouldn't need locktite.

That's what I thought too, but I had to screw it back in 4 times. Then I said to heck with it and stopped by an auto shop for blue threadlocker.

It has the spring in place but I guess it didn't need to be screwed in enough for the spring to provide enough resistance.
