DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hello guys,

Can you please advise which engines from earlier models fir to my GSX-E 750 1981?
My engine face a prob with camshafts and i was thinking whether i should go for an engine replacement instead of fixing the existing one.

Can i fit another engine from earlier models without any major modifications?

Rgrds,
Christos

I am certainly no expert but I'd think your best bets would be later not earlier engines i.e. '82,'83, 84 etc. I suppose earlier engines could work but you would then be looking at 8 valve units ( yours is a 16 vlave is it not?).

I would think these newer engines would still bolt right in but perhaps you might need to fabricate a bracket or two. I'm not really sure but most anything can be made to fit & work.

Hopefull a more knowledgeable engine swap guru will have the exact answer shortly.

Good luck with it.

cheers,
Spyug

hello spyug,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry for my mistake, i meant later model and not earlier.

Yes it is a 16 valve air cooled engine.

I think 80-82 GS750E's are all basically the same 16V engine. Later engines are a bit different but not sure all of what.

I think that is correct .. 83 the engine dimensions were a bit narrower I have read.

There's a ton of stuff that will phisicaly fit in the frame with varying degrees of work but keeping it suzuki gs 750/1000, 1100 efe, gsx1100, gsx750 es gsxr750/1100 slabby, gsxr 750/1100 slingshot, gsx1100F

roughly speaking all the air cooled stuff is simple & the later oil cooled stuff requires a bit more work :)
