A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Need some guidence.. I cant remember how the harness is routed on my 78 GS1000.
I know it comes up the left side of the frame but where I get confused is in the neck area.
Does it stay on the left side and continue under the triple or does it cross over to the right side of the frame before going into the trees?
A coule pics..
Pay no attention to the pollin ALL OVER EVERYTHING, Just pretend its not there, lol.

The factory manuals show the cable/wire routings. I found it for mine on BassCliff's web page.
Does he have a manual for 1000 listed?

I see the diagram in the manual but nothing about routing.
I must have missed it.

I just re-did the harness on my '83. The main harness comes out from the left side of the frame, routes under the triple-clamp, then goes up on the right side of the frame into the headlight bucket. Hope this helps

The manual says the main harness goes up the left frame, as it gets to the coils it moves from under to over and then......aw ****, here's a photo. If you can't see it well enough send my your email and I'll send you full res.

If you need some pictures, I took a boat load of them when I disassembled my '78.
I'll dig them up later and post pictures of that area.

The 2 large plugs cross over to right side just aft of the coils. This is a photo of my '79 GS1000 that shows this. I've a few other photos of wiring the harness routing. If you need them I can post what I have.

Funny how this stuff just kinda pops in your head when your putting it all back together.
