    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Headlight Toggle Switch Question

Hello,

I'm trying to wire a three-way toggle switch for my headlight. This should control the On/Off (center switch), High Beam (outer switch), and Low Beam (opposite outer switch).

I am having trouble figuring out the correct wiring for this. I've attached a picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't recognize all the wires in the pictue, evidently there is something custom going on there.

Does that switch have a center OFF position?

Regardles whether the switch has a center OFF position, wire your incoming power wire (not sure, but might be a yellow/white wire) to the center terminal. Connect the white wire (low-beam) to the upper terminal and the yellow wire (high-beam) to the lower terminal. The lever on the switch is opposite the terminal it activates, so this will turn on the low-beam when the switch is in the DOWN position and the high-beam when in the UP position.

I'm a noob so forgive my ignorance but won't you need to run power to the switch?
 
I currently have the High Beam (Yellow) wired to the right terminal, and the Low Beam (White) wired to the left terminal. My main question is what wire connects to the center terminal, and what needs to be done with the remaining wires?

This is a completely stock bike, so all the wires you see came from the original headlight switch housing. It just had lots of settings, so I'm not sure the best way to simplify it all.

The center would be 12V from your fuse block. Moving the switch one way would send power to that end, moving the switch the other way would send power to that end. Moving it to the center position (if it has one) would turn the headlight off.

Ok Gotcha. I ended up needing to plug the Orange wire into the center position. Now everything works.
