    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've got a sound, original (except the exhaust) unrestored GS850G - 1979 vintage. It's had electronic ignition added, a Honda rectifier and a Marshall 4 into 1 exhaust. It's seen better days - haven't we all? - is on 56,000 miles and has just gone through it's MOT (British test certificate needed every 12 months) and passed.

I've had it five years since I returned to biking after a 25 year gap (house, mortgage, kids) and don't do anything to it except change the fluids regularly and ride it from time to time.

I like it a lot. And I found this forum while googling round the internet.

Bike History before this.

1963 Royal Enfield 500 cc twin - upgraded to 700cc twin. Owned 1976/77
1962 Triumph T100a 500cc twin - owned 1977/8
1976 Honda CB400F1 400cc four - owned 1978/1980
1976 Suzuki GT750a 750cc two-stroke triple - owned 1980
1977 Honda CB750F1 four owned 1980 - 1983

1983 - 2009 No Bike!

Jeez, doesn't anybody believe in chain drives anymore?

I went from 1989 to 2013 without a motorcycle. God, it's good to be back on two wheels!

MalcG, welcome to the forum! Man, you've ridden some cool bikes! That MOT thing ...? we have a similar cash grab in Vancouver called "Air-care". ...but really!- a10 year old vehicle, let alone a 3 year old vehicle, is probably not even going to function if it "pollutes"..I suppose it was a good idea in its day, but they could save many more lives by stopping people using digital doodads in their cars.
PS you have to post a picture to get any attention here!

MalcG - Welcome to another Brit we are literally taking over this Forum. Reminds me of the heady days of 1814.

You will find this place to be one of the best Forums on the whole internet - for anything - not just GS bikes!

Pop along and put your name in the UK Social Group here: UK Social Group. We are one of the biggest groups now.

Also, if you are a Facebook guy, go and join us at out UK GS Owners Facebook Page.

My story is pretty much the same as yours. A big break from biking and then a return in later life.

Greetings
