A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi I have an 83 GS450TXD and need some help troubleshooting the Drive train. I have it up on the center stand and can spin the rear wheel in neutral but when I pull in the clutch and change gears I can no longer turn the wheel.

Would this mean the gears are stuck or the cylinders? The bike was sitting for several years before I bought it, enough to have green gas in one carb.

Another thing I found a website that has a rust remover for the gas tank it's http://www.rusteco.com/auto.htm Has anyone used this product before?

Thanks for any help, I know I can count on this forum for answers.
after all I'm a new rider, 39 yrs old first bike and have the bug. I can't wait to ride this baby next spring.

Can you turn the engine over with the starter or kick? It is pretty difficult to turn the rear wheel with the bike in gear, in fact if you could then you would have a problem, as for the rust product I have not heard of it, sorry.

If the wheel does not turn while the clutch is pulled in it may be that the clutch plates are sticking. They may free off by rolling the bike along and then pull in the clutch and select a gear but keep the clutch in. Hope you get it running ok.

clutch pulled in hmmmm.....

clutch pulled in hmmmm.....

HHmmmm... clutch pulled in you say, bike in gear you say, turn the wheel by hand with clutch pulled in you say, hmmmm.... duh ohhh, I guess it would help to have the clutch pulled in and the bike in a gear when trying to turn the back wheel by hand. I'm an idiot....lol

Thanks for the help I'll bet it turns after pulling in the clutch. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again to you both.
