    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How To Get Exhaust Back On?

Alright, So I took off the exhaust header pipes (when there were no mufflers on it). That was a little bit of a struggle. Now I am trying to get it back on but cant seem to figure out how? I have it currently on some 2x4's so that it is high up and may give me more clearance. But, so far to no avail.

I decided to see if I could remove the cross bar connecting the two pipes together and found that was held together buy a little clamp. I loosened it and tried to pull the pipes apart but it wouldnt budge.

I am wondering if I actually can pull these apart and if not, how I can get the pipes back on.

I just took the exhaust of mine last night. Took me a while to figure out what to do. I was going to take the clamps off the cross pipes but decided against it. I just thought that fitting I all back together might be a painful task. I took the entire exhaust of in one piece.

I ave not tried to put it back on yet. Bu my plan is to support it all on wood, fit the header pipes into the cylinder head, and then put ack the bolts that connect the exhaust near he rear foot pegs. Hopefully that will all happen with not too much grief.

Good luck getting yours back on. Take it slow and don force anything. Mayb place some towels o cardboard on your 2x4s to protect your exhaust.

Thanks, yea but my problem is that I cant get the pipes around the frame even with the higher elevation with the 2x4s.

Was this the same for you?
 
I put mine on in pieces rather than trying to support the whole thing. I don't know how different a 450 exhaust is but the idea may be the same. I put the header pipes on first, and worked back. Leave everything loose until the whole system is on. I seem to remember that it doesn't clamp together the way a car does, all the 'clamps' do is keep those little round thingies in place to seal the sections, which fit together rather snugly.

So are you saying that you took the crossbar off so that the two sides were separate or are you saying that you just had the headers (together) and no mufflers?

I'm saying that to the best of my memory the four headers all went on individually. Each muffler split into two pipes to attach to two headers. There is no physical connection between the two mufflers. Some systems may have a pipe connecting them making things more cumbersome but I'm not sure on that.

Oh ok, I ended up taking off one of the mufflers and was somehow able to get the headers on. Dont know how but it worked.
