I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey all, quick question, but I'm doing some work on my bike and I'm having a bit of trouble finding some things, also I'm swapping out some stuff, appearance mod wise... Anyway, more to the point, I was wondering if anyone knew where I can find a list of interchangeable parts from other years/models of suzuki that I can use for reference? If there's nothing available, no worries.

Thanks in advance either way!

~James

Alot of body parts from my 1100L are the same. Good luck finding one though.

Hello, body wise most 550 77to82 impretty sure will fit. engine carbs are cv used on 80-82 550/650e 81-82 BS32. some 750 also, though jets, needles main air, cold start jets differ. 81-83 650 cams, but not the sprockets, will fit the M,GT,GZ models give more lift & duration=Power.cyl&head combo also works, double check that though. forks are 35mm I believe. used on older 750, and newr 650 81-83. hope I helped some. SAN

There is a programme that you can purchase from this web page http://www.zedder.com/ Ithink it is about $25. I have it and use it a lot to find what cams, heads, and other parts interchange between different models. Get on the web and have a look. See example of what models use the same 550 exhaust camshaft.
Cheers. Don

The 650 cams have less duration on both the exhaust and inlet camshafts. The 550 cams (both) have 260 deg. of duration compared with the 650 cams which have 252 deg duration. The 550 intake opens 6 deg. earlier than the 650 and closes 2 deg. later. The 550 exhaust cam opens 5 deg. earlier than the 650 cam and closes 3 deg. later ATDC. So if you want to give yout 650 more pep go with 550 cams. BTW both motors have the same camshaft lift so there is nothing to be gained there.
Cheers. don.

Many pepole on this site suggest 650 cam swap or the cyl head conversion.one of the past bike of month did the swap on his 81 550. go to www.gs-classic.de/index1e.htm go to models 550 and 650 click on Tech eng etc tells specs includind cam lift&duration fro 400 to 1100 gs models. they also have a interchange page.SAN

I see what you mean SAN I didn't realise they changed the cam profile on the later 550s (Damn California pollution). I cant find cam profiles for the later model gs550s, they could be on that site above but I don't read German. I would think the best swap to these later 550 head would be to put the GS550B cams in them, as I stated before they have a hotter cam in them than the 650 motors. Don

550 to 650 eng. interchange

550 to 650 eng. interchange

So aside from just the cams are other top end components
(cyl. bank, complete head ect) easily swapped to achieve performance advantage ala big bore or is the 650 a stroked 550?

The 650 is a bored out 550. Head, cylinders, pistons, etc all fit onto the 550 crankcase with some modification.
