I've owned a few bikes dating back to the '60's. Always try to ensure I used a better than good motor oil. I used Valvoline for a period of time, then I switched to Castrol GTX. When I was in Alaska and had my skunk I
put some Mobil 1 synthetic in it. I drove it cross country with it in it, only problem I had was the oil tended to dissapear, when I asked a Suzuki motorcycle mechanic about using it, he said "I wonder where it goes?" without any mention from me about it dissapearing so I switched back to conventional.
Now I've been using Amsoil synthetic, no problems. I'm a firm believer in
synthetic oil, far superior to conventional oils, there's no doubt about that. I'm coming up on an oil change, and after reading this post, I think I'll try some of that "genuine" synthetic (oxy moron) Shell Rotella 5w-40 diesel oil.
