A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have ordered a Vance & Hines Megaphone and a Dyno-Jet kit for my 1980 1100E. I also am going to add a Hi-Flow airfilter. I have never rejeted carbs before and wanted a little info. of what I can expect. Is it a diffcult job? I was told that it can be hit or miss. Any information will be greatly accepted. :? :)

The Dynojet kit will get you very close to where you need to be. They are very good about answering questions if you have to call them. What are the dimensions of your stock filter element? I have a K&N replacement I never used after I decided to go with individual filters that might work for you.

I am not sure as I am at work and cant see it at this time. I have the standard air box for my bike if that helps. If not I will check it and reply tomorrow.

It's not hard at all... Especially when you lose the airbox and can get the carbs on and off easier. The only catch you may run into is finding retaining ring pliers that will fit into the top of the carb slide, its pretty deep and most pliers don't fit. However, what I did (and others I have learned) is to use a set of old needle nose pliers and grind the tips down to a point that would fit the retaining ring. These work fantastic and I would recommend this way to anyone. The dyno-jet instructions are great and you don't have to dig too deep into the carbs to get to everthing you need to modify.....
Good luck

Another option for removing the clips is a set of hemostats. That's what I used to use on my old CVs.

I tried the needle nose pliers bit, and pulled most of my hair out, as the pliers kept slipping out of the clip holes. Then I went down to Sears and bought the tool, and ground down the sides of it until it fit into the spot. My life has become much better. It's well worth the $10 or so.

if you are going to put a header on your bike and jet lhe carbs you should put individual filters as well, if not you will lose on a lot of horse power and gain on frustration as your jet kit is probably designed for pods and will run too rich with the air box. if you leave the air box on go up 1 or2 sizes on your mains and as always start rich then go lean, and check your plugs tan to dark brown is good white to light tan is too lean, try again untill its right. this is the frustrating part good luck. reg

Ditto on the needle nose pliers after running around to a dozen stores to find the correct tool :? :?
