    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Jetted carbs with stock exhaust? Runs rich.

ON my 82 gs750 the guy I bought it from jetted the carbs, ripped out the airbox and ran a simple slinky tube with foam wrapped on the end for an air filter. The stock exhaust is still on. Would this make the bike run rich? Would a header be necessary? Bike runs strong.

see if you can find out what size jets he used... although he probably wouldnt have a clue, it would still help to know whether or not he just replaced the jets, or actually changed the sizes.

Running some kind of dryer vent hose with foam stuffed on the end is retarded.
If the carbs were just cleaned and refitted with stock jets, then reinstall the airbox. or try some quality pods, which usually require rejetting - so finding the current jet size is pretty important.
 
If you still have the stock airbox, just put it back on and see how it goes from there. But, I still agree with chef. Since you, most likely, have no idea what size jet was put in you may as well just upgrade with the Dynojet, get some pods, and even a new exhaust for good measure.
With that said however, it all depends on your own idea for the bike (i.e. stock, mild upgrades, or complete rebuild). This will help you with the stock jets idea.

Why not just clean the carbs and see if that helps (im not into this... Just buy this, just buy that... Type thing)
Just give em a good clean and see what it goes like after that. Then if still not good, THEN start thinkin about spending.out on some bits...
Oh and when your cleaning them, look to see what main-jet size is being used... Sounds like the mains may be a little too big.
