DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does anyone have any part #'s of the K&N Pods that you have used? Also what type of exhaust? Are the jet kits needed?

Thanks,

kindredgumm

If you get any response, I'd like to know as well! I'm pretty much a GS newbie, with the same bike and same problem... NO idea what I'm doing, but I know I want to Update/Upgrade some of my existing parts.

I don't know if Vance and Hines makes a pipe for the 650G or not. I just looked at a couple of parts houses and they don't list one. For the pods you just need the outer diameter of you carb throat, but I think K&N website might have a lookup. You'll need either a jet kit (another $130 or so) or you'll need to get all the specs from someone who has set up an identical bike so you can buy the jets, shim the needles yourself.

Spent most of the day doing research on the exhaust... rain forced me indoors. ANYWAYS, the info I found out is, no, V&H Does not make any exhaust systems for a 650, I had to call them to confirm. I did run into another company that makes pipes for the year/model of our bikes. http://www.cyclepages.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=4032899
From what I can tell, they make 4to1's and 4to2's as well as 2to1's etc. No word yet on how they sound though, but I assume the 4 into 1 will be a decent performance increase regardless. Now for the confusing part, for the life of me, maybe it's the rainy day, but I can not tell if http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=RU-0984 comes in a pair of 4? or do you buy them 4 individual for the $100 to $130 each? I'm really wanting to make the switch to the pods, just want to know how deep my pockets have to run to get them =)

Thanks for doing all that research for the exhaust. why does the 4 to 1 exhaust make more performance over the 4 to 2. I would think that two seperate exhaust pipes would be better then one?

I imagine a 4 into 2 CAN be as free flowing (or more so) than a 4 into 1, but you are also lugging that extra weight around from the other muffler. The stock 4 into 2 on these bikes not only has a more restrictive baffle, but the header is double walled and the muffler weighs a ton. My entire 4 into 1 system weighs less than 1 side of my stock exhaust. So (in my case on a 1000) you are turning a 560 pound bike into maybe a 530 pound bike. I can tell you, you feel the difference.
