If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hiya guys! Loving the spring weather here in sunny CO. I have been on a few rides, but the return spring on my throttle is a bear to say the least. I am getting cramps from holding the throttle. Should I just modify the spring, or is there a lighter one that is cheap and easy?

Thanks, Bob

Re: Lighter throttle return spring?

I took my throttle spring off and went to the local hardware store, They had about 50 different springs in stock. I found one the same length and thinner that works just fine and it cost me 59 cents. :-) :-) No more cramped hand. eh eh

My throttle was very stiff when first I got my bike. I thought it was the linkage on the carbs. Lubricated the cable, and rusty oil came out the other end. Now it's as light as a feather.

I have lubed the cable and that did help, but it is still a bear of a spring to pull against.

Thanks guys.

I have aftermarket carbs with heavy return springs. I recently bought the " throttle rocker" which is a throttle ergonomic rest for your wrist. It was only $9.99 and on the highway or at an even speeds you dont have to grip the throttle just rest your palm on it and it it holds the throtlle still. It stopped the cramping. and just clips on to your throttle . If you are just going for a short ride it unclips just as easy. (I pretty much leave mine on all day)............skip

Bob,

Mine has a throttle lock (cruise control) on it - so for those long stretches of road this works out very nicely. It sounds like you might want to do this AND getter a smaller spring - I like that idea for the pressure factor - even while in town and shifting a bunch.

By the way, I'd like to connect with you some time and check out your GS - I live here in Fort Collins as well. We should get with GS750en as well becuase he is just east of town here somewhere.

Also - so much for the sunny weather in Colorado - that was short lived!!

Throttle Rocker

Throttle Rocker

I'm with Skip on this one......I bought a Throttle Rocker and absolutely love it! :!: I got used to it in about a half hour and have never taken it off. You can buy them directly from Throttle Rocker for 10 bucks .....delivered. It's a simple little device that works great.

"Go to the hardware store and buy a lighter spring" is a bit more vague than the info I was looking for. :? I was hoping that perhaps someone might have a specific part number, thus enabling me to get the spring right on the first try without having to test several different springs. I am on my second try with a hardware store spring, this one seems ok, but is a bit light. I am going to try a throttle rocker. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
