DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I was getting my carbs ready for a bath and I discovered my left carb is missing a spring on the mixture screw. How important is this spring and does anyone know where i can get a new one aside from digging around in the hardware store?

I thought I read once of someone cutting a spring out of a pen to fit.

Did you look inside the carb?

They often stick inside

That's the spring I recently lost and then the house mate found.

I tried for about a week or two to get a replacement before the house mate found it, and good luck finding one. Suzuki have no part number listed for it anywhere as those are sealed from the factory from '79 onwards, and the earlier models where they aren't sealed don't fit.

Put the other one in a sealed plastic bag (big enough so it's hard to lose) and take it with you to find something suitable from a hardware or whatever...

My 82 gs550 mixture screws have no spring, washer or oring in any of the carbs. Should all 3 be on mine?

Do you put on oring first, then washer, then spring?

Thanks,
Sean

Actually I had no washer on either of mine, just an O ring and spring.

The shape of mine is similar to the OP's pic but the heads of the screws weren't the same, and I can't see any indication on mine there was supposed to be a washer there, but the 425 I'm not sure on.

the one on the right appears to be complete for the gs425. no washer. just the o-ring (shown) and the spring. the 425 carbs are different than the 400 and the 450.

Yeah they certainly look different! Guess that goes with the 8 valve head and roller main bearings too...
