    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My clutch sprocket has no resistance?!?!

when i pull my clutch lever it wont reload.. Is there a spring that needs replacing or am i missing something?? The clutch will not disengage.. i just bought it this past weekend..:( Thanks for your help..

Does it re-enage after sitting a bit? Check and lube the cable.

Check the routing and lube it up.

I've been reading this again and again, along with your title, and I have no idea what you are referring to.

Wont reload? Clutch sprocket has no resistance?

What is a "clutch sprocket"?

Please explain with more detail, using better terminology, so we can offer some suggestions.

lube your cable then we can move on.
We can then remove all possible issues that way.
The cable may be binding due to being dried up inside or due to being improperly routed.

Do this first then come back.

If the cable is that bad it should be replaced.:p
 
Sounds like the release mechanism isn't set right.

Pull the cover that is beside the left footpeg, check the adjustment of the release mechanism. If you need to adjust it, I think there are three places where adjustments are possible. Adjust the wheel at the lever for maximum play. Also adjust the one in the middle of the cable for maximum play. Finally, adjust the cam under the cover by the footpeg, your manual will tell you how much play to leave there. Do any fine-tuning with the other adjustments.

Thaanks a ton for the advice.. it isnt the cable ive taken the cable off and examined it and such and it pushes the lever back and forth just if i pull the clutch in the handle stays in until i push it back.. and starting the engine in nuetral even if the clutch handle is pulled in it doesnt engage the clutch.. here is a pic i found online of the sprocket or lever or whatever you might call it that no longer offers any pull on my clutch cable.. hope thats a lil better I suck at explaining things.. Thanks
 
Good god man, what kind of motorcycle are we talking about?:?: That photo shows some late model bike, not a GS.:mad::rolleyes:

Someone took off the clutch cover and botched up the re-installation.:-s The clutch release mechanism might not be properly installed. Or maybe the clutch is missing entirely. Who knows. Time to get yourself a manual.

I was riding when it came loose so its not a reinstall problem.. the pic is of a newer kawasaki i was just using it to show the part.. Thanks for all your help ill try to figure it out!
 
If you want help from us you really need to show us a picture of the bike you are referring to. That way we can see if something is off or not.
 
Pull the lever off the splines on the top of the clutch cover and see if it is stripped as suggested. It may of also of become loose and moved on it's own.
I don't think you could break all the clutch springs at once or ground all the fibers down.
 
thanks for all the help!! I took the cover off and didnt see anything wrong.. the I realized what i think happened...when i had taken the lever off the arm to put it at a better pull angle I had somehow over rotated the "arm" and it had somehow lost grip with the pull pin that pulls the whole clutch out.. (if that makes any sense??) Now i just need to find somewhere to but the gasket i just screwed up... any ideas???? THanks soo much!!
 
I've made gaskets like that before using auto parts store gasket paper. Trace out the pattern, punch the holes with a paper hole punch, and cut out the shape with scissors and an xacto.
 
Or, order a gasket from your local dealer

That's what I do
