A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bike looks great. Can't tell in the last pic did they get the air box on? Tell us what it made on the dyno.

Hey Steve, since you ask....... Z1 Cycle Tech was a great disapointment. They couldn't figure out why the bike only ran on 2 cyclinders and just told me they hadn't the time to fool w/ it any longer and to come pick it up. After looking here'n there and talking to a few other shops, I decided the guys at TO Cycle in Etobicoke were the right ones to sort it out.

They quickly diagnosed the problem as a fried ignition (Boyer) and replaced it w/ a Dyna. They also upped the jets to 115, if memory serves. Runs great now. They are old school though and don't have a dyno, they tune it by ear and by the plugs.

The stock airbox was ditched for pods. They could get 'em back on, but the rubbers aren't sealing anymore.

Ralph would know a thing or two about these old suzukis. He raced a Kawasaki back in the day and will attest to the Gs pulling him out of the corners but quite equally matched for top end. He knows what he's doing. If you want it dyno run take it to cycle pro.

Argh, insurance - don't get me going, it's a scam up here in the great white north.

I just had my buffalo stocker and the wife's 400f appraised tonight and have been in contact with Dalton Timmis so if there is any savings I will post. Buddy at Dalton said he would insure the turbokat so it sounded promising. 6 insured bikes no discount=scam. My car is worth 5 times as much as my bike and I pay $325/yr.

No doubt, it was fun talking to Ralph and hearing the stories about his racing days. His mechanic, Junior, did most of the work on the GS and it was perfect, 'cause he loves these old bikes himself (his daily rider is a KZ900 bored out to 1200).

Went for a proper ride up to Lake Simcoe on Mon and snapped a couple of pix.

Paul was on his 2 wheeled insanity certificate (aka ZX 14), which has been tuned for 195 rear wheel horse power.

I'm thrilled to have the Cooley back in operation. Carbs still need to some fine tuning (running WAY too rich, me thinks), but she is getting there.

vm28 with pods and a 4-1 header and only 115 main jet. If it's rich, I'd doubt it's the main jet.

Thx guys, I'm pretty sure it's rich cause I can smell gasoline while stopped at a light and Paul reported same while riding behind me. Anyways, it's due back at the "doctor" on Mon and we'll see what he says.

Leave it at my place for a couple weeks. I will even break it in for ya

Great looking build! I may have missed this in the thread, but what is that header? EXACTLY what I am looking for

It's a Marving header made in Italy. They make 2 versions, mine is the magaphone version that was far too restrictive as it came from the factory. It's a sealed automotive type muffler, which you can't disassemble. To get it to flow properly, I had to drill 4 3/8" holes in the back. I'll post a pic when I get back home.

I would recommend you get their other version called the "race" pipe which is rebuildable and tunable. Paul (aka doubleblue) has it on his GS and it worx great.

Both versions use the same header pipes, which conveniently allow for retention of the center stand.

Here's the view of the back of the muffler w/ the holes I drilled at 90 degrees to each other.

From this angle you can see how the edges of the muffler are wrapped and pressed over the back plate making disassembly impossible.
